Art Workshop Jocelyn Snelson 788840

This popular group has a set time and venue, meeting every week at the W.I. Hall, St. Just on Thursday mornings, from 10 to 12:30. Sessions begin again on 16th September. Telephone Jocelyn for further information.

 

Computer Studies Sandy Angove 787454

We now have a computer class on Monday mornings at St. Just W.I., run by Network Training: please give Sandy Angove a call if you are interested and we can arrange dates for you.

 

Cornish Studies Gerald Cox 786552

The group are completing work at the Cable and Wireless Museum, Porthcurno, where they have been transcribing the diaries of George Spratt, the assistant manager of the Cable station in the 19th century. A new project for this coming year will be research into the postal srvices in West Penwith - contact Gerald for details.

 

Creative Writing Liz Allmark 787917

Members of this group have now had two books of their poems published. Give Liz a ring if you are interested in joining her group, who meet fortnightly on a Monday afternoon. The first session is on 20th September at 2pm in the W.I. Hall.

 

Games Group Marion Stevens 787965

This light-hearted group meets on alternate Wednesday afternoons in the W.I. Hall to learn and play Euchre, Scrabble and Mah-Jongg - no previous experience necessary! The autumn session starts on 22nd September: ring Marion or Pauline (786286) for details.

 

Garden Club Val Murley 787574

We meet every other week on a Thursday afternoon. Events include visits to members' gardens, garden centres or some of Cornwall's famous gardens, depending on the weather etc. Look for details on the board at St. Just library.

 

Genealogy Sandy Angove 787454

This group now meets fortnightly on a Wednesday afternoon at the W.I. Hall, also at other times by mutual arrangement to access the internet. Ring Sandy for dates and times, or for advice and assistance in researching your family tree.

 

Classical Music Appreciation Michael Potter 871312

This group holds monthly evening meetings in Sennen; the music is of an informal and definately not high-brow nature - a programme for the term will be available at the first meeting. All levels of interest will be catered for: contact Michale for details.

 

Walking Christine Hopewell 786225

Local walks are planned on a regular basis, exploring some of the beautiful areas in and around the Land's End and St. Just district. Contact Christine for dates, times and routes - or check the notice board at the St. Just Library.

 

If you have any suggestions for subjects that you would like to study, please let the committee know. Would you be prepared to lead a group? To lead a group, you only need time and interest - no formal qualifications are required, none are given - and there is no financial remuneration!

 

Costs

Attendance at any social or study session 50p per person
Visitors welcome at all events £1 per person
Annual subscription (due 1st April) £7 per person
Annual subscription (due 1st April) £10 per couple

Raffle prizes are always welcome at Social meetings!!
