Meet the Pendeen Project Steering Group

Mary Warren

I Have lived in Pendeen all my life. I have been a member of the steering group for some time, as I think the project office has been a godsend to the community. I was on the first playing field committee some years ago and was superintendent of Pendeen St John Ambulance. I have recently become secretary of the Pre-School. I am employed during the summer as a first aider at the Land's End complex this will be my eighth year there, I have also just become a first responder. I have a daughter, son-in-law and two small grandchildren living in the village. I have done a STEPS course, and have recently gained qualification in CLAIT with Network Training. Last year I had my work placement at the Project Office while doing City and Guilds IT Training.

Paul Riggs

I have lived in Pendeen for five years, my wife is from Pendeen and I have two small children. I have just joined the steering group. My mother-in-law is also a member. At the moment I am incapacitated due to a riding accident almost three years ago, I have just had my fifth operation. When able my hobbies are mechanics, gardening, woodwork and cake making. I joined the steering group because with two small children growing up I wanted to be involved in the community.

Derek Jones

I moved to Pendeen from Bristol eight years ago, I am a member of the Pendeen Project Steering Group. I am the treasurer for the outreach parish magazine as well as being in charge of printing, collation and distribution. I am also treasurer of the Lands End Peninsula Forum, the Penwith Branch of the WEA and the Mounts Bay Singers. I am a member of the Pendeen Parish Council, Marazion Apollo Male Choir, Penzance Choral Society and Pendeen Church Choir.

Alison Mooney

I am married with three sons, one daughter, and three grandchildren. I have lived in Pendeen for seven years. I work at Pendeen school as a Teaching Assistant and Lunchtime Supervisor. I have been a member of Pendeen Community Project Steering Group since it was first set up in February 2001. I helped out voluntarily in the Project Office in the early days dealing with community consultations and the initial research into the equipment the youth of the village would like to have in their own park.

Marcia Hosken

I've been a member of the steering group since 2002. I was born and bred in Pendeen. I'm also the treasurer of YAP, and on the committee of the Pendeen Horse Show. I have one 15 year old son. I work for Penwith Housing Association. My hobbies are walking and horse riding.
